Meet Photowall designer Michael Mullan

9 April, 2013

Now the American illustrator Michael Mullan’s retro inspired wallpaper collection is exclusively available at Photowall . He draws his inspiration from the colourful 60’s, something that can be seen in his beautiful motifs.

Michael Mullan was born and raised in Chicago but now has its base in rural Vermont. He studied graphic design at Millikin University and has an MFA in Illustration from Savannah College of Art & Design. We asked four quick questions to get to know him a little better.

Michael, can you tell us a bit more about your artistry?

– I am a sucker for 60’s nostalgia: the decor, fashion, vintage fabrics, old rock ‘n roll, jazz and folk music. My art is a reflection of the time when it was both easier times and simpler design. I was born just too late!

Can you mention something that inspires you?

– I love travelling to new places, meet new people, try new food, discover new art and music. I really love anything that gives food for the senses and keeps my creativity going.

What is your home furnishing style?

– My art is colourful, modern and fun. I tend to find beauty in simplicity and think that a design can say a lot even with limited colors and simple shapes.

What is your favourite subject in your collection for Photowall?

– “Hey Chicago” was definitely the most fun for me to create because it is my hometown.

Michael Mullan’s collection is available for order as a measure custom photo wallpaper at Photowall. The collection consists of 67 designs that range from graphic New York motifs to floral motifs. Most subjects are also available as Canvas. For more inspiration, check out Michael Mullan’s inspiration board on Photowalls Pinterest.
