Trendspotting – interior trends spring 2013

9 April, 2013

Here’s a piece in the new year, as it is time for trend spotting. How can we decorate the spring of 2013? I think we are beginning to concentrate on spring colours and materials. Here’s what I think will be strong cards to bet on in the spring.

Pastel

Pastels are making a comeback in a slightly “dirtier” tone. I tip apricot and yellow tones. A hot tip is the wallpaper Tiny tree triangle from Studio Rita, designed by Maria Bergström. Can be purchased for 369 crowns per square meter at Photowall. I would match it with black or white furniture and little wooden details to add warmth.

Emerald

This year’s color, according to Pantone, is emerald green. A beautiful and vibrant color that works especially fine with the cool woods. I think we will see a lot of green details such as Ittalas series available in a beautiful apple green hue.

Grayscale

It has not probably escaped from anyone that grey in various shades are in the news. Everything from the deepest anthracite grey to light concrete. Anna Elzer Oscar’s beautiful Dusty Diamond series can be found in a grey shade that is super nice.

Graphic

I think the graphic trend will persist even in the spring. Play Type’s lovely letter mugs from The wave mugs collection is a great example.

Hot Metal

In spring, it is time to pick up those old copper kettles and brass candlesticks. Warm shiny metals are in fact really hot. A bit of fun I think after an era with a lot of silver metal and chrome. A nice and trendy example is the Tom Dixon scented candles Eclectic available in both copper and brass.

Marble

Finally, marble is in trend again, and just in the right time. It’s so stylish together with warm metals. I think we will see a lot of marble in details such as marble tile from Hay, or for exampe in the kitchen as a worktop.
